Rep. Tim Huelskamp, a Kansas Republican, tweeted Tuesday that it's a "twisted world" with transgender people being "in."
Huelskamp was referencing the Obama administration's
crackdown on artificial trans fats, announced by the Food and Drug Administration Tuesday, and the story involving Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender person formerly known as Olympian Bruce Jenner.
Huelskamp's "transracial" comment was about Rachel Dolezal, a white woman who pretended to be black for years.
She resigned from her job as president of the Spokane Wash. chapter of the NAACP on Monday amid controversy.
Dolezal's parents
said in an interview last week their daughter is white and has been pretending to be black for years. On Tuesday, the 37-year-old Dolezal
said she still identifies herself as black.
Huelskamp was one of the 24 Republicans who voted against John Boehner as House Speaker in January, and he said
he was retaliated against for that.
"The House is more closed under John Boehner's leadership than it was under Nancy Pelosi, which means if you're a conservative, you're out in the cold. If you're a Democrat, you don't have access to the floor either," Huelskamp said at the time.
