Christmas came early this week in Charlotte, North Carolina when three strangers dressed as Santa Claus began randomly handing out $100 bills.
“I’m shocked. Oh my gosh, this is amazing,” Regina Brady, a third-grade teacher, told the
Charlotte Observer as she was handed a crisp Benjamin.
“Oh wow! Thank you. God is good!’’ roared another teacher Leslie Weathers as she accepted the money.
The surprise handouts have become a yearly tradition in Charlotte since 2008, when an anonymous local family calling themselves the Secret Santas decided to spread some holiday cheer around Christmastime.
The family was inspired by late Kansas City businessman Larry Stewart, whose handouts in his own community sparked a national movement that has spread to other cities, the Observer reports.
Last week, another Secret Santa handed out $100 bills in parts of Staten Island, New York that were heavily damaged by Hurricane Sandy.
