Fox News host Sean Hannity — who said he would no longer talk up a conspiracy theory alleging that a Democratic National Committee (DNC) staffer was murdered as part of a cover-up by Democrats — is back at it.
Hannity brought up the July 2016 killing of Seth Rich during his nationally syndicated radio program on Thursday, as he speculated about leaks of damaging DNC emails, The Hill reports.
"My guess is there are a lot of angry, disgruntled, whistleblowing truth tellers within the DNC that were there that saw the collusion, that saw that the fix was in against [Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders, that saw that there was corruption at the highest levels," Hannity said on his nationally-syndicated iHeartRadio program.
"Now, I don't know anything about Seth Rich in this sense. I don't have any information about why he was murdered except that it was suspicious.
"And suspicious meaning it wasn't a robbery as they've claimed but otherwise why would you not steal his wallet, his phone, his necklace, his jewelry and watch and everything else."
In May, after Rich's family begged Hannity to "stop politicizing" his murder, he announced, "out of respect for the family's wishes for now, I am not discussing this matter at this time."
Hannity had provoked outrage by promoting a widely discredited story that Rich was killed in exchange for providing internal Democratic documents to WikiLeaks. Some sponsors threatened to leave his show, but he ultimately weathered the storm.
Rich was shot dead in Washington D.C. and the case remains unsolved, although police believe he may have been the victim of a botched robbery.
