Actor Jared Padalecki was criticized on Twitter after suggesting Philip Seymour Hoffman's death from a heroin overdose was "stupid" and "senseless."
"'Sad' isn't the word I'd use to describe a 46-year-old man throwing his life away to drugs," Padalecki wrote in a tweet, which he later deleted. "'Senseless' is more like it. 'Stupid.'"

was found dead Sunday morning in his New York apartment with a hypodermic needle stuck in his left arm and bags of heroin around his home.

The comments, however, sparked outrage among some followers. One wrote, "I wish more people would lose the stigma and treat addiction as the deadly and serious DISEASE that it is."
