People in Pennsylvania must now wear masks in public, Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered.
In a tweet Wednesday, the governor said they must now be worn “whenever anyone leaves home.” Previously, the state required masks only in businesses.
“This mask-wearing order is essential to stopping the recent increase in Covid-19 cases we have seen in Pennsylvania,” Wolf, a Democrat, said in a statement.
The requirement, implemented by executive order, requires masks to be worn inside anyplace the general public is admitted and outdoors when a distance of 6 feet cannot be consistently maintained.
Pennsylvania has 84,751 confirmed coronavirus cases and 6,649 deaths, according to its website.
