ABC Poll: US Majority Approves of Trump's Virus Response

Fifty-one percent of Americans approve of the way President Donald Trump has handled the coronavirus outbreak in the U.S., a new ABC News/Washington Post survey reveals.

Forty-five percent disapprove of his response to the pandemic.

Here are highlights from the poll released Friday:

• 58% say Trump was initially "too slow to take action to address the problem," compared to 38% who say he "acted with the right amount of speed."
• 48% approve of the way Trump is handling his job as president, while 46% disapprove.
• 69% are worried they or someone in their immediate family might catch the virus, compared to 30% who are not concerned.
• 56% say there a high/moderate risk of them coming down with the virus, compared to 43% who say there is a low risk.

The poll, conducted March 22-25, surveyed 1,003 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.5 percentage points.
