Oklahoma Judge Lets Stand Law Limiting Drug-Induced Abortions

Wednesday, 29 October 2014 05:51 PM EDT

An Oklahoma state-court judge refused to block legislation that bars drug-induced abortions after the seventh week of pregnancy, a measure that opponents say forces women into unneeded surgery.

Today’s ruling in Oklahoma City comes a day after North Dakota’s highest court reinstated related restrictions on the use of medicinal abortions in that state.

The New York-based Center for Reproductive Rights said it’s immediately appealing the Oklahoma ruling. The law is set to take effect on Nov. 1.
