Obama Threatens to Veto Healthcare Repeal

Monday, 02 February 2015 06:29 PM EST

President Barack Obama is threatening to veto a Republican bill that would repeal his healthcare law.

The White House says the Affordable Care Act is working and is improving care for Americans. Officials say repealing the law would take health coverage away from millions of Americans and prevent others from gaining coverage.

The bill to repeal Obamacare is expected to face a vote in the House this week. Republicans have voted to repeal the law dozens of times before and have also sued the president over the law.

Obama's warning joins a string of veto threats he's issued since the new, fully Republican-run Congress took over this year. He's also threatened to veto measures dealing with abortion, government regulation and natural gas pipeline licensing.
