For those Brooklyn hipsters — and other political junkies — here's your chance to live just like hizzoner. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio has put his Park Slope home up for rent,
the New York Post reports.
The Big Apple mayor is now happily ensconced in the famed mayoral residence, Gracie Mansion, so it appears he's looking to earn a little green but offering his 100-year-old brownstone, where he lived with his family until this summer, on the notoriously fierce city-housing market.
While seasoned city-dwellers may not balk at the price of $4,975 per month, there is one drawback. The multi-story home features just one bathroom, located on the third floor, no less, making sharing on the property a requirement for multiple tenants.
Still, noted De Blasio's real estate agent, it's a great deal, with new kitchen appliances as well as carpet and paint in place for a qualified renter.
“You’re getting a lot for what they’re paying,” Realtor Tricia Webster of Brooklyn Properties, said in an interview with
WCBS/Channel 2, which posted an exclusive video tour.
“It’s living large,” she told the television station. “In the city, whenever you have a private garden and three-plus, maybe a fourth bedroom, that’s living large.”
One mayoral perk that is missing is the home's ever-present security booth. It has been removed, saving taxpayers about $270,000 annually, WCBS noted.
The mayor vacated his place this summer to move into official quarters with wife Chirlane McCray and children Chiara and Dante. Proving he is a man of the people and regular joe, De Blasio left some of his gently used but unneeded possessions curbside, free for the taking,
NY.Curbed.com reported.
