Nebraska GOP Gov. Pete Ricketts said Sunday the U.S. response to the coronavirus pandemic should be left to individual states.
In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Ricketts said his own state has been actively preparing for the fast-spreading virus.
“We are projecting our needs… and seeking to be able to get” what is needed, including personal protective equipment and ventilators.
“You can either have the federal government do everything or you can have the states do everything,” he added.
“I would actually prefer that we leave it up to the states to be able to manage this because I think that’s going to be a better outcome,” he declared.
But, he warned: “You can’t have it both ways. You can’t complain because the federal government [is] stepping in front of your orders then say the federal government should be doing everything in the first place. “
