Funeral services for former heavyweight boxing champion Muhammad Ali will be held Thursday and Friday in his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, a family spokesman said Saturday.

Ali died late Friday night at the age of 74.

Ali's body will be taken to Louisville within the next 48 hours, family spokesman Bob Gunnell said at a news conference. A private ceremony for family will be held Thursday, followed on Friday by a public celebration of his life, he said.

An imam will first hold a ceremony with the family on Friday morning before a "rather large funeral procession will take Muhammad through the streets of Louisville to allow anyone that's there from the world to say goodbye," Gunnell added.

The procession will pass landmarks including the Muhammad Ali Center down Muhammad Ali Boulevard, through his old neighborhood, and then along Broadway in Louisville where many iconic photos of him were taken. A private ceremony will then be held at the cemetery.

An interfaith service will be directed by the imam, that will include clerics from multiple religions, including Utah Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch representing the Mormon faith.

Eulogies will be led by former President Bill Clinton, sports broadcaster Bryant Gumble and actor/comedian Billy Crystal
