Protesters in Minneapolis on election night set off fireworks, spray-painted storefronts of businesses, and threw traffic signs and debris into the streets, Fox News reports.
Police said they made 14 arrests during election night protests in the city.
Several dozen protesters carried a banner that read “America is Over” as they marched through the Uptown neighborhood.
Police didn’t step in until members of the group aimed firecrackers at the officers and refused to listen to orders, police spokesman John Elder told Fox News in a statement.
Police arrested 12 females and one male on suspicion of rioting charges. One adult female was arrested for fourth-degree assault in addition to the rioting suspicion charge.
FOX9 reporter Karen Scullin tweeted that there was no violence on the scene as police processed the protesters accused of rioting. Scullin noted that a group of onlookers did yell at police as they were making the arrests.
