Rep. Max Rose, D-N.Y., on Sunday cursed out a person in front of a Staten Island grocery store who told him he hoped his political career ended.
“Bro, I thought you were f---ed out of your mind, so don’t worry,” Rose shot back.
“I am out of my mind,” the person declared.
Rose was filmed by a local NBC affiliate handing out flyers for his reelection campaign when the exchange happened.
Rose, who beat a popular Republican incumbent two years ago to win New York’s 11th District, is locked in a tight race against Republican opponent Nicole Malliotakis, a state assembly member.
Rose, 33, has been known to use profanity on the campaign trail and in interviews.
“We don’t talk like that. Every third word out of our mouths is not an f-bomb. You know?” Brendan Lantry, the chairman of the Staten Island GOP, told Politico last week. “It just perpetuates this negative view of Staten Island when he’s constantly cursing in magazines and newspapers.”
