The shell-shocked mother of a 14-year-old Santa Fe High School student described how she urged her daughter to flee as a crazed teen gunman slaughtered her classmates on Friday.
"[Angelica] called frantically to say there was a fire drill and they were outside and then she heard gun shots and there was an active shooter," Angie Martinez told CNN.
"And so I told her, ‘Run baby, run and hide! Get out of there. And I’ll go get you wherever you run to.'"
Angelica said: "The teachers are telling us to stay put, but we're all just running away … I didn't see anybody shooting, but like (the gunshots) were kind of spaced."
Shannon Curry, whose daughter Paige, is a junior, told KPRC: "I sped down here as fast as I could. She called me and said there were shots at the school. ... I told her to listen to her teacher, to stay down."
