Tom DeLay: Probe of Trump Surveillance Long Overdue
(Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live")

Former Republican House Majority Leader Tom DeLay on Monday hailed the Department of Justice's decision to investigate whether the FBI engaged in politically motivated surveillance of Donald Trump's presidential campaign, saying it is a long overdue probe into "obvious" wrongdoing.

"Finally, finally!" DeLay told hosts Miranda Khan, John Cardillo and Gina Loudon on Newsmax TV's "America Talks Live" on Monday.

"I've been saying for over a year that all the dots point to the fact that the Obama administration used the Department of Justice and the FBI and the government to try to help Hillary Clinton in her campaign. It was all quite obvious."

Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Isgur Flores said Sunday the agency has asked the Inspector General to determine "whether there was any impropriety or political motivation in how the FBI conducted its counterintelligence investigation of persons suspected of involvement with the Russian agents who interfered in the 2016 presidential election."

"Finally, we're going to get somebody to look into this . . . This whole notion of collusion with the Russians and all of that – that was cooked up by the Democrats trying not only to push that narrative but to push the narrative to cover up what they'd done," said DeLay, who represented Texas' 22nd congressional district from 1985 until 2006.

"I guarantee the day after the election, they were scared to death that what they had done during the election would come to light."

DeLay is the author of "Revival! Revolution! Rebirth!: A Radical Call from the Former Majority Leader of the United States House of Representatives," written with Wallace Henley and published by WND Books.
