Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner have threatened to sue the anti-Trump Lincoln project over its side-by-side billboards in Times Square that slam their response to the coronavirus crisis.

One of the massive billboards shows Ivanka Trump gesturing toward the numbers showing the coronavirus deaths in New York and the United States, reports The New York Post, while the other shows her husband with several body bags and a quote reading "[New Yorkers] are going to suffer and that's their problem."

The Kushner quote was taken from a comment he is alleged to have made, according Sept. 17 article in Vanity Fair, which had a different context.

"Cuomo didn't pound the phones hard enough to get PPE for his state . . . His people are going to suffer and that's their problem."

The image of President Donald Trump's daughter, who like her husband is a senior adviser in the Trump administration, appears to be taken from a selfie she tweeted in July, where she is shown holding a can of Goya black beans after the company's CEO was slammed for saying the country is "blessed" under the president's leadership.

Trump family lawyer Marc Kasowitz threatened in a letter to sue the Lincoln Project unless it removes the advertising immediately, and called the billboards "false, malicious, and defamatory."

The anti-Trump organization tweeted the letter, which also threatened it would be sued "for what will doubtless be enormous compensatory and punitive damages."

The Lincoln Project tweeted a response Friday night, saying "Jared and Ivanka have always been entitled, out-of-touch bullies who have never given the slightest indication they have any regard for the American people. We plan on showing them the same level of respect."

In its official statement, attached to the response, the organization said it is "unsurprising that an administration that has never had any regard or understanding of our Constitution would try to trample on our first amendment rights . . . but we fully intend on making this civics lesson as painful as possible."
