Rep. Pete King: MS-13 Gang Taking in Illegal Minors

A dangerous street gang is gaining custody of unaccompanied minors who illegally enter the United States, Rep. Pete King, R-N.Y., said Thursday.

The practice involves the MS-13 gang, Rep. King told Fox Business Network's Stuart Varney.

"Intelligence is showing, MS-13 is getting families in communities like Brentwood and Central Islip on Long Island [New York] — either threatening the families or paying the families to volunteer to take these kids in, and HHS then sends the kids into these neighborhoods," King said.

King said "more than 70 percent" of recent arrests of MS-13 gang members in New York's Suffolk County were minors who came to the U.S. border with Mexico and were then placed with guardians.

King said the program of resettling the minors was a "false dream" that is now backfiring.

The issue of unaccompanied minors coming into the U.S. gained national attention last month when a freshman girl at Rockville, Md., high school was allegedly raped in a school bathroom by two illegal aliens aged 17 and 18.
