MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Aging survivors of the Nazi Holocaust have canceled plans to protest outside a Miami Beach political fundraiser featuring President Barack Obama.
Friday's protest was intended to publicize their struggle to collect what they say is $20 billion in Jewish insurance policies never paid by European companies.
Members of the Holocaust Survivors' Foundation USA said this week that they wanted Obama and Florida Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson to push legislation that would force companies to disclose lists of pre-World War II policies.
Since then, Nelson has filed such a bill. Other members of Congress have also pledged support for the legislation.
