Rep. Hice: No Question on Election Fraud, Including in Georgia

There is "no question" there was widespread fraud involved in the November election, Rep. Jody Hice said Tuesday, pointing a finger at his own home state of Georgia.

"I can speak specifically for the state of Georgia," the Republican lawmaker told Fox News' "America's Newsroom." "I joined many state senators who have reached out to us and to the administration in a letter urging them not to certify the electoral votes from Georgia. We have to get to the bottom of this. This is the sacred trust of the American people and it must be defended at all costs."

It is up to elected officials, he added, to do all within their power to ensure that elections are fair and protected, and if they don't do that, it's "un-American."

"It's our duty to protect the voice of the people," Hice said. "The allegations in this past election are enormous."

Georgia's Senate runoff race, which is underway, is huge, said Hice, but he thinks that many people are staying away from voting because their elected officials aren't standing up for their rights to cast a ballot fairly.

The applause at Monday night's rally with President Donald Trump was "enormous" when Sen. Kelly Loeffler came out and said she'd back the push against the Electoral College votes for Joe Biden.

"It is that type of thing that energizes people and gives trust back to the people to get out and vote because they know that they have representatives who will defend that right at all costs," said Hice. "I think the lack of willingness from individuals both within our state and otherwise to take a stand for free and fair elections, that has been the cause that has caused many people to say I'll stay home."

However, Hice said he thinks Georgians won't be discouraged from voting for Loeffler or Sen. David Perdue because they want candidates who stand for their votes to count.

"A lot of people have opinions one way or the other, but we have a constitutional duty to defend the right of the people to express their opinions at the voting booth," he said. "That is a sacred trust and it must be defended at all costs and everyone who has stood for that principle has been enormously received."
