Newt Gingrich on Friday urged President Donald Trump to ''study'' Vice President Mike Pence’s ''remarkable'' debate performance against Democratic VP nominee Kamala Harris.
In an interview Friday on Fox News’ ''Outnumbered Overtime,'' the former Republican Speaker of the House said there were style and substance points Trump could use in the next debate with challenger Joe Biden.
''I thought Vice President Pence did a remarkable job the other night, which I really hope that the president will study,'' Gingrich said of the Wednesday night debate with Harris.
''He was calm, he was focused. He would go back and say, 'You didn't answer the question.'
''It was not hostile. He stayed on her. And I think as a result he had a very good evening and the country had a much better sense of just how radical Kamala Harris is.''
Trump came under fire after the Sept. 29 debate with Biden, a matchup that was dominated by interruptions and personal insults — and afterward, gave Biden a bump in polling, The Hill reported.
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced Thursday the planned Oct. 15 debate moderated by Steve Scully would be conducted virtually.
But Trump refused, and the Biden campaign announced it'd participate in an ABC town hall instead. The final showdown is set for Oct. 22.
