Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff Chris Nanos told Newsmax on Tuesday that he does not have a suspect in the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of "Today" show host Savannah Guthrie.
"We completed our crime scene analysis and gathered a lot of evidence from the crime scene and now that is being submitted for further follow-up forensic work," Nanos told "National Report."
Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her suburban Tucson home Saturday night and was reported missing Sunday.
Nanos said Nancy Guthrie's home is considered a crime scene but offered no details on what might have occurred relating to her disappearance.
Nanos said investigators secured extensive potential evidence from the home and are conducting a detailed scientific analysis, including "samples from the home" for possible DNA and fingerprint testing.
Nanos said the entire area is being scoured for potential evidence, including "cameras, cellphones, and license plate readers and intersection cameras — all of that technology that is, today, normal in these kinds of cases."
"All of those things have been submitted, and now we wait," he said.
"I'm like you, I want it now. But it does take some time," Nanos continued.
"And in the meantime, thanks to you and the rest of the media out there, we're getting a lot of good tips that we're following up on and tracking," he said.
"Today, as I sit here, do I have a good, solid lead as a suspect? I do not."
Tips are usually what help break a case, Nanos said.
"We're not giving up. Keep calling us. Keep giving us that information," he said.
"I don't know who said it, but there is no tip too small."
Nanos said anyone who saw or heard something out of the ordinary may have the lead that breaks the case and helps the department locate Nancy Guthrie.
"Please share with us what you've got. Allow us the opportunity to filter it," he said.
"And if it's nothing, we can dismiss it and move forward. But we do appreciate the community support on this."
The sheriff said anyone who sees a person resembling Nancy Guthrie in the area should take a photo and submit it through the department's tip system for analysis.
Nanos said he could not substantiate an analyst's claim that Nancy Guthrie was targeted for a physical attack, adding that while he would not rule it out, nothing in the evidence he had seen indicated such a crime.
Nancy Guthrie is on medication that she needs daily. Without the medical support, she could suffer severe complications.
