A person in Kentucky has tested positive for coronavirus after attending a "Coronavirus Party," Gov. Andy Beshear said Tuesday.
"We have a positive test from someone who attended a coronavirus party," Beshear told reporters at a press conference. We ought to be much better than that."
The party consisted of a "group of young adults in their 20s who I guess were thinking they were invincible," he said. He warned young people that while they may not feel serious symptoms from the virus, they are still able to spread it to others who may, such as the elderly and people with underlying health issues.
"For those folks who thought, 'We’d be all right if we got it,' what about everybody else you've seen?" he said. "We need everybody doing the right thing."
Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, who is in Washington D.C., has also tested positive for COVID-19.
There are currently 163 confirmed cases in Kentucky, Beshear said, with 39 new cases since Monday.
