Seven-one percent of Americans are worried about having enough household cleaning supplies readily available due to the coronavirus crisis, according to a new poll released by the Consumer Brands Association.
The survey shows a rise in concern from the 67% who said so in the March 25 poll and the 54% who expressed worry a full month ago.
Sixty-three percent of those in the new poll said their concerns were due to fears that others were hoarding the products.
Other results from the survey include:
- Worry over the coronavirus has increased to 61% from the 54% who said they were concerned about it in the last poll a week ago.
- When asked about specific products, 65% of those surveyed said hand sanitizer was the hardest product to find, followed by toilet paper (62%), disinfecting wipes (57%), face masks (43%), and cleaning supplies (39%).
- However, concern about being able to obtain other products has been decreasing. For example, 61% said they are worried about access to personal care items, down from 70% a few weeks ago, with similar declines in concern shown for access to food and beverage products and access to over-the-counter medicines.
- In another survey released Monday, 94% of Americans said they are taking precautions against the coronavirus, which is nearly 30 percentage points higher than what it was in mid-March, according to The Hill.
Some 1,400 adults were surveyed April 1 for the poll, which has a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.
