Broadcaster Brian Williams, sometimes ridiculed as "Lyin' Brian," has been hit with more criticism for his perceived mistreatment of MSNBC host Rachel Maddow during an early April breaking news drop in, and not just by liberal Maddow supporters on social media, according to the New York Post's Page Six.
The disapproval was shared by a source with the network and MSNBC chief Phil Griffin, according to the report.
"Not only did Brian go way over the top with his coverage of the missile strike, he then totally patronized Rachel by thanking her for 'visiting' her own show and being 'a part' of his 'beautiful' coverage!" a network source told Page Six. "Has he not learned anything from 'Misremember-gate?'"
"NBC Nightly News" suspended and then fired Williams after he "misremembered" Iraq War experiences in 2015. Williams is not a breaking news anchor who can join shows like Maddow's to deliver news.
Maddow was already on her show discussing the U.S. strike of a Syrian airbase when Williams cut in and then returned to her show by saying "Thanks for visiting tonight. Glad you were a part of our coverage," according to the report.
"Phil [Griffin] gave Brian a very stern rebuke, telling him, 'Don’t you ever do that again,'" a source told Page Six. "But Rachel didn't seem bothered by it and just laughed it off."
