President Donald Trump's tweeting habits are worrisome and he must change, former American Airlines CEO Robert Crandall said Thursday.
"I am profoundly distressed by a guy sitting in the White House sending out tweets, excoriating a company (Nordstrom) for throwing out Ivanka's fashion items that do not sell," Crandall told CNBC.
"He needs to evolve. That is not appropriate…. He is the president of the United States. He needs to behave differently than a guy who's running a business," he added.
Crandall made the comments as Trump met with airline executives on Thursday, including the CEOs of Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and JetBlue.
He hopes that Trump will agree to an update on the air traffic control system. He wants it to be put into a nonprofit corporation and out of government control.
"You're going to get better people developing the system, moving away from the World War II technology we use today, towards a satellite-based system," which is used by Canada and other countries.
"It's time to move to update the technology… as most of the rest of the world has already done," Crandall said.
