A topless woman allegedly stole a bulldozer in Montana and went on wrecking spree Sunday morning, damaging an apartment building before she was captured by police, the Great Falls Tribune reported.
Heather Houston, 34, was charged with several felonies and two misdemeanors in connection with the incident after she allegedly drove the stolen front-end loader through the city and slammed into a building at Fox Hollow Apartments, the newspaper said.
A witness told authorities that the bulldozer crashed into his window while Houston, who lived next door, climbed into her own unit from the front-end loader, the Tribune wrote. Police alleged that Houston gathered some clothes and tried to leave before they detained her.
"She actually ran into the side of my window, it shook the whole house," Andy Ashcraft, an employee at KRTV, told the television station. "That's when we went running outside thinking, 'We better get out of here in case the building comes down."
KRTV wrote that the Great Falls Police Department initially charged Houston with felony criminal mischief and felony criminal endangerment.
An affidavit from the Cascade County Sheriff's Office said Houston allegedly caused more than $1,000 damage to the loader's dashboard, $1,600 in damage to the apartment building and hundreds in damage to a church lawn she allegedly drove through on her way to the apartment, according to the Tribune. The document said a front gate, fence and a pickup truck at the business where the loader was stolen were also damaged.
Police said when they informed Houston of one of her charges, she allegedly told them, "I was very careful, and I nudged the bucket up to his (the neighbor's) apartment," the Tribune wrote. She reportedly also told authorities that she had permission to drive the bulldozer, but the owner confirmed that was not true, the newspaper said.
In all, she was charged with felony theft, criminal mischief and criminal endangerment, along with misdemeanor criminal mischief and criminal trespass to property, the Tribune wrote. She was held on a $10,000 bond, according to the newspaper.
