Sup Dogs Tip: YouTuber Leaves $10K After Ordering Water

By    |   Tuesday, 23 October 2018 09:28 AM EDT

A Sup Dogs employee in Greenville, North Carolina, was shocked to receive a $10,000 cash tip from a patron who ordered two glasses of water then left the restaurant Saturday.

Alaina Custer, who is also a student at East Carolina University, told The News & Observer that she first thought the stack of hundred-dollar bills was fake and that she was the subject of a prank.

It was only later, when she went to serve a second table with two men who had a camera and had been filming the incident, that she learned the money was indeed real and that the generous tipster was a well-known YouTube star, Mr. Beast.

"They just told me about their YouTube channel and how they were going around blessing servers’ days," she said.

Sup Dogs owner Brett Oliverio told The News & Observer that the tip was the "biggest ever" to be given to an employee at the restaurant.

Custer decided to split the tip with her colleagues, many of whom were also students.

"I was so blessed to have that money. We got to all split it up, which will help a lot of people," she said, according to Fox News.

Mr. Beast has more than 8.8 million subscribers and his channel features multiple videos in which he makes large donations to unsuspecting people.

He recently donated $10,000 to a Twitch player, and also tipped pizza deliverers $10,000.

It is not every day that restaurant servers receive such generous tips but every now and again a story emerges about a kind patron leaving behind a stack of bills.

Earlier this year a Boka restaurant tip of $2,000 on a $759 bill was left by a Chicago diner.

The generous tipper, simply identified as Mike, was having dinner with five companions at the Lincoln Park eatery and was so impressed with the food and service that when the bill arrived he decided that 20 percent gratitude was simply not enough.
