Mindy Cohn, the veteran actor known for her role on the long-running sitcom "The Facts of Life," announced via social media Sunday that she is recovering from a recurrence of cancer.
Cohn posted a photo of herself giving a thumbs-up from her hospital bed.
"Have been off social media for a while 'cuz I had to go kick cancer's a**," she wrote, signaling that she's now in the middle of a recovery period.
This isn't Cohn's first time dealing with the disease. In 2017, she opened up to People about a private five-year struggle with breast cancer that began with a 2012 diagnosis.
During that time, she went through what she described as a "siege" of treatments, including a double mastectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation. Even then, the road was rocky.
"I've always been an optimist. But the cancer metastasized. It kept spreading and coming back," she told the outlet. "I kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, and then it would. And then I'd wait for another shoe to drop, and it would.
"I was frustrated and enraged. I couldn't control any of this. I couldn't fix it."
In her latest update, Cohn didn't go into specifics about the type of cancer she is currently fighting, but she was quick to praise her medical team at Providence Saint John's.
She called her oncology surgeon, Anton Bilchik, a "hero" and gave shout-outs to her nurses — Finja, Patty, and Courtney — along with her family members who she said have acted as her constant advocates.
"Recouping for another couple of weeks and then ready for my next adventure," she told her followers. "Onwards! F**K Cancer!"
The news prompted an immediate wave of support from Hollywood friends.
Jerry O'Connell reached out in the comments, writing, "Love you, Mindy! Here whenevs you need us!" while Sarah Paulson and Helen Hunt also sent their support. The comment section included a Hollywood rush of well-wishers, including Octavia Spencer, Chelsea Handler, and Lucy Hale.
Cohn has stayed busy in the industry since her days at "Eastland Academy," which ran for nine seasons until 1988.
Most recently, she's been seen as Ann Holiday in the Apple TV+ series "Palm Royale" and has worked on the film "Influenced" with Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow.
She told fans she'll be ready for her next move in just a few weeks.
