Melissa Joan Hart was accused of trying to cash in on 9/11 on Friday by offering free shipping on her King of Harts clothing line after the actress complained about the 14th anniversary's poor news coverage.
The 39-year-old, a Long Island, New York, native known for her ABC Family series "Melissa & Joey," fired off a series of tweets blasting the day's 9/11 coverage, even throwing the
Kardashians under the bus for good measure, The Huffington Post reported.
She continued her rant on Instagram with a photo of a rainbow coming from the new One World Trade Center Tower.
Later on Friday, Hart announced that her King of Harts clothing line would offer free shipping to anyone who used the code 911.
"After lambasting the news media for not properly remembering the national tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, Hart worked in a plug for her company, King of Harts, noting that the clothing line is offering free shipping in honor of those who had been
affected by the attacks," TheWrap's Tim Kenneally wrote. "God bless America — and commerce."
TheSpreadIt.com reported that Hart got so much backlash from the 9/11 free shipping promotion that she issued an apology on Facebook Saturday.
