A Meghan Markle pregnancy? Ever since Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot in May the public has anticipated a pregnancy announcement, and now British bookies are getting bullish, claiming this week that a royal baby is inevitably on the way.
According to betting intelligence site Bookmakers.tv, the odds on a pregnancy announcement has hit a record low, The Mirror reported.
Following the wedding, the odds for a 2018 announcement were at 4/6, but now they have dropped to 1/5.
The odds were slashed following rumors last week that Markle was pregnant after she was spotted wearing a ruffle dress that many believed was concealing a baby bump, The Hollywood Life reported.
The rumors have largely been dismissed, but bookies still believe an announcement is on the way.
"It's Prince Harry's 34th birthday this weekend and with the couple making no secret of their desire to start a family we think that it's almost inevitable now that the latest Royal baby will be arriving in 2019," said bookmaker Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead, according to The Express.
"A royal baby always prompts enormous excitement over what the name will be and at the moment our punters are backing a Prince James to be the latest to enter the family.”
There are even bets on what the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's first child will be named, with Coral listing James as the favorite at 8-1 odds, with Olivia the lowest odds of the girls’ names at 14-1.
Alex Kostin of Bookmakers.tv said that, according to the latest betting, there could definitely be a pregnancy announcement on the way.
"Bookies should brace themselves for the biggest royal betting frenzy of all time," he said, according to The Mirror.
