Meghan Markle will make her "Suits" departure on April 25 when her character signs off in a two-hour Season 7 series finale. Not to worry, though. Season 8 has been approved.
Markle, who announced two months ago she was leaving the television series as Rachel Zane as she prepares to marry Prince Harry, will be joined in her departure by Patrick J. Adams, who plays her on-screen partner Mike Ross in the USA Network legal drama series, Entertainment Weekly reported.
"I would like to thank Patrick and Meghan for their extraordinary contributions over the last seven years," said Aaron Korsh, creator and executive producer of "Suits."
"Not only have they been outstanding in their roles as Mike and Rachel, they are also superb human beings who will always be beloved members of the 'Suits' family, and we wish them well in their days to come."
Chris McCumber, president of Entertainment Networks, NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, said while the series looks forward the future of Season 8, he was appreciative of Markle's and Adams' long contribution in making the series popular.
"After seven seasons, 'Suits' remains one of USA Network's most beloved and popular series," McCumber said. "While we’re excited for Season 8, everyone at USA will deeply miss Patrick and Meghan, and are grateful for the talent and commitment they brought to 'Suits' season after season. We wish each of them nothing but the very best."
"Suits" will start the back half of Season 7 on March 28 and returns stars Gabriel Macht (Harvey Specter), Sarah Rafferty (Donna Paulsen), Rick Hoffman (Louis Litt) and new series regular Dulé Hill (Alex Williams).
The series also released its second half of Season 7 logline, which read: "… Harvey must deal with the aftermath of Jessica (Gina Torres) losing her license, while trying to process how the kiss with Donna will affect his relationship with Paula (Christina Cole). Mike tries to juggle his commitment to the firm, his passion for pro bono work, and his engagement to Rachel. All the while, Louis struggles with right and wrong as his torrid affair with Sheila (Rachael Harris) deepens."
Markle, 36, and Prince Harry, 33, are expected to be married in St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19, according to USA Today.
