A Kentucky teen was swept through a drainage pipe by floodwaters during Friday evening's thunderstorms and was hospitalized in critical condition.
Davey Albright, 15, a sophomore at Trinity High School in Louisville, was unconscious and not breathing after first responders found him about 100 yards from where he had been sucked into the drainage pipe located on the 9800 block of Melissa Drive, WDRB reported.
Neighbors said Albright was in his backyard when he slipped and fell into the drainage pipe and was swept away.
"It's just unbelievable," neighbor Michelle Stack said, according to WDRB. "You can't believe something like that is happening. It just happened in the blink of an eye."
Albright was transported to Norton Children's Hospital, where he remains in critical condition as of Monday.
Since the incident, letters and signs of support have been taped to his door by friends and residents.
On Sunday, members of the community gathered at St. Margaret Mary to pray for Albright's full recovery, WLKY noted.
"There's been so many people offering prayer for the young man," said Father Bill Hammer of the church.
He explained that the prayer service was a "way for them to come together not only to support him through our prayer, but support each other."
Friends of Albright told the news outlet that returning to school was going to be difficult knowing that he was in the hospital.
Trinity High School meanwhile asked in a tweet for the public to keep Albright in their prayers.
Streams of support have poured in for Albright and his family as hundreds took to Facebook to express their empathy.
