A police department in Maryland is giving residents a final warning: Either wear pants when checking the mailbox or suffer the consequences. The Taneytown Police Department made the announcement in a post to Facebook on Tuesday.
"Please remember to put pants on before leaving the house to check your mailbox. You know who you are. This is your final warning," the department wrote.
It is unclear whether or not the post was directed at a specific resident but on Thursday the department shared a post from the Holliston Police Department poking fun at the attire of residents in lockdown.
"The Holliston Police Department needs your help identifying the item in the attached bulletin," read the caption to a photo of a pair of jeans. "We are unfamiliar with it, as residents are typically seen wearing cotton sweatpants, yoga pants, leggings, or other stretchy material. It does not appear to be from the year 2020. We ask that you leave any leads or identifying information in the comments below."
Followers were quick to throw in their comments.
"No one fits in them anymore!!," one user quipped.
"Oh I remember those I think they called them pahants? Hahah" another wrote.
Others joked of how life was too short for pants and how they could be worn for special occasions.
"They can be worn during Zoom staff meetings with a professional looking top," a user wrote.
"Wait we are supposed to wear something below the waste? I thought the entire idea of video conferencing calls were so we can be comfortable!!!," another replied.
Since the corona epidemic, shirts have become more essential than pants, according to USA Today.
"We’re seeing increased sales in tops, but not bottoms," Dan Bartlett, Walmart’s executive vice president of corporate affairs said of people working from home and teleconferencing.
