A Chicago party shooting that left four wounded, one critically, highlighted a bloody weekend in the area where six people were killed and 22 hurt in shootings from Friday evening to early Monday morning, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

A drive-by attack early Sunday outside a Humboldt party in the western part of the city left the four injured, the Sun-Times said.

The six shooting deaths increased the city's murder total connected to guns at 24 for the first 22 days of the year, the newspaper said. Overall, there have been 27 homicides in Chicago so far this year, the Sun-Times wrote.

The Chicago Tribune wrote that several victims were shot at one location and one shooting left a 5-year-old injured. Two people also were shot in separate incidents while riding public transportation, the Tribune said.

Authorities found the latest shooting death victim 2 a.m. Monday after responding on a shots fired call on the city's southwest side, the Sun-Times noted. Police told the Sun-Times that they found the man, 28, in the driver's seat of his vehicle with a gunshot wound to the head. The vehicle had crashed into a parked vehicle.

Another man, 41, was driving in the 12900 block of South Halsted about 2:20 a.m. Sunday when he was shot multiple times, Chicago police told the Sun-Times. He was pronounced dead at MetroSouth Medical Center in Blue Island.

The newspaper said that Chicago had gone six straight days without a fatal shooting until last Thursday when two men were shot to death in the West Woodlawn neighborhood.

Chicago Police reported that officers shot and injured a man who was allegedly attacking a woman in the city's south side Gresham neighborhood the Chicago Tribune reported. Officers were called to the residence on a domestic violence call, the Tribune wrote.

The man and the woman were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where their conditions were stabilized, the Tribune reported.
