Fifty-five percent of Americans consider themselves physically attractive, including 10 percent who think of themselves as very attractive.[1][2]

A YouGov survey found that 58 percent of women think of themselves as attractive along with 50 percent of men. However, men are more likely to think of themselves as very attractive. Twelve percent of men hold that view compared to 7 perecentof women.

Forty-eight percent would be comfortable if a stranger on the street complimented their appearance. That includes 52 percent of men and 45 percent of women.

However, 22 percent would be uncomfortable, including 7 percent who would be very uncomfortable. Five percent of men would be very uncomfortable with such a compliment from a stranger. So would 9 of women.

Twenty-percent have received a negative opinion about their appearance that ruined their day. That includes 15 percent of men and 24 percent of women.

On the other hand, 51 percent have received a positive comment about their appearance that made their day. Forty-one percent of men have enjoyed such an experience along with 62 percent of women.
