Gen. Michael Hayden, the former CIA and NSA director, says the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt have all recently made mistakes in the Middle East. Now he concedes it is “fairly true” that there’s no end in sight for the wars in Libya and Afghanistan.
Gen. Hayden recently gave Newsmax Platinum readers a special briefing on U.S. relations and security in the region. In this final installment of a three-part series, the retired Air Force 4-star general says the Russians are proving themselves “not that good” at statecraft in the Middle East. He’s also skeptical that Jared Kushner, the president’s special Middle East envoy, will have much of an impact because, “He might be a great young man but he’s not a practiced diplomat.”
