In fact, as it has turned out, she is to receive the second highest advance in history. (Only Pope John Paul II’s $8.5 million was higher than Hillary’s $8 million. His book lost the publisher a ton of money; let’s hope Hillary’s publisher takes a bath on her project.)

But the initial news stories indicated that she was demanding all of the $8 million up front –

Normally an author receives his/her advance incrementally as he/she turns in segments of the manuscript. Or sometimes the author gets 50 percent up front and the other 50 percent upon acceptance of the completed manuscript.

But oh no, not Hillary, the greatest and smartest woman who ever lived! She never met a law or rule or ethical standard she couldn’t circumvent.

When word leaked about the book advance, however, the usual Washington Game began. Tongues began wagging. Jealousy – or a thirst for headlines – drove publicity-hungry egomaniacs to the press.

And first in line was the most vicious and petty senator of them all: John McCain. He made his first post-election appearance by claiming that he would lead an investigation into Hillary’s book deal. How pathetic!

This from a guy who was caught up in his own lies about his involvement with financier Charles Keating. McCain took money and vacations from Keating,

Just look how far this fellow has fallen. One year ago he was drawing Standing Room Only crowds at hundreds of town hall appearances in New Hampshire. His campaign was

He crushed G.W. Bush in one of the biggest upsets in recent political history. He had Bush ‘on the ropes.’

Now, less than a year later, McCain knows that he has been relegated to the political dustbin of history. He will rise no higher than his present senatorial status. The election of a Bush meant that Bush’s most serious challenger has

McCain knows what all of the political world knows: When you go against the Bushes, you will suffer for it

All this talk of McCain getting a Cabinet appointment or as a possible VP replacement should Cheney step down due to his heart condition is

No, John McCain – perhaps the meanest, rudest, most utterly horrible person I have ever personally known in politics – is back to headline chasing. Today it is Hillary he will use for his ego-quenching addiction to seeing himself on television. Next week it will be something or someone else.

The media may love him, but those who know him best – his fellow GOP senators – are ecstatic over his fall. The fact that he is reduced to being a political gadfly pleases them
