The St. Louis Post-Dispatch is reporting that:
As welcome as the anonymous donor perhaps more than one is, the charitable organization's drive to raise nearly $5 million for its annual Tree of Lights campaign is still behind.
Even so, the Salvation Army's grateful Maj. Andrew Miller, who oversees kettle collections, said:
"We are calling this person, or persons, our 'Silent Angel.' "
He said the Army has been finding either $100 bills or five new $20 bills wrapped together in kettles at nine different locations in the southern part of the city. The total: $2,400.
The money from this drive goes to pay for 50,000 toys for children, Christmas groceries for 7,000 families and various Salvation Army programs throughout the year.
So far this year, the organization has raised nearly $2 million, or 41 percent of its goal.
Last year by this time, it had collected 49 percent.
But no one can say the Silent Angel has not been doing more than his or her share.
