"Our group has planned to carry out operations of martyrdom against Israeli targets" during the eight remaining days of Ramadan, Yassin, 62, told the daily.
The Hamas leader, who is confined to a wheelchair, was quoted as saying that the "Palestinian people are determined to liberate their territory, and the only language Israel understands is force."
Yassin was serving a life prison sentence in Israel until he was set free in 1997 in exchange for the release of two Israeli intelligence agents captured in Jordan.
In the Al Ahram article, Yassin vowed that the Palestinian uprising that began Sept. 29 would continue until "the Palestinian people achieve their aspirations" and slammed leader Yasser Arafat's decision to maintain contacts with Israeli officials despite the death of hundreds of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
"These contacts with the Israeli enemies weaken the uprising and do not provide positive results concerning the territories" where the violence continues, Yassin told the daily.
The militant group earlier this month accused Israel of planning to assassinate more than 400 Palestinians, including the top leaders of Hamas.
