Nothing should stand in the way of George W’s presidential agenda. Tax cuts, education reform, a stronger military – these are but a few of the reasons that we sent him to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And with the U.S. Senate evenly divided down the middle, he’ll have his hands full trying to push his agenda through. That’s okay; he’s up to the challenge. Reaching across party lines and getting the job done is something he was famous for in Texas.
But can you imagine what a distraction a Bill Clinton trial would be? Are you ready for 6 months (or more) of seeing that smirking, smarmy, lip-biting face on the front pages of our newspapers? Are you prepared for the liberal media making a martyr out of Clinton, should he face a trial? And worst of all, would you be ready to accept the messy process of the Democrats knocking George W. flat on his face should Clinton be tried and acquitted?
Let’s face it; Slick Willie has an ability to get away with everything. Are you convinced that if Robert Ray gets an indictment he’ll also guarantee a conviction? Not me. I have no confidence in a system that lets O.J. go free. I have absolutely no faith that Clinton would ever be convicted of any crimes. We’ve seen enough travesties of justice involving the Clintons.
Before you howl in protest that I’ve lost my mind, ask yourself this question: What’s more important for America – that George W. Bush be allowed to implement his agenda and become one of our greatest presidents of the modern era? Or that Bill Clinton is brought to trial with no certainty of a conviction? It seems to me that every proud American, that every true conservative, would want nothing to stand in the way of George W. getting eight years to restore dignity, honor and credibility to the presidency.
Also keep in mind one disturbing prospect: If Bush stumbles, there’s a power-crazed woman named Hillary who’ll be waiting in the wings. She’d like to return to the White House, you know. What better method than to watch George W. handcuffed and made ineffective because of his refusal to give Bill Clinton a pardon?
Clinton’s legacy will always be that of impeachment, of lies, of scandal. I’d like to see him fade into obscurity, with that asterisk always behind his name. And I’d dread the idea that that asterisk could contain information that he was tried and acquitted after he left office. Let’s watch him leave office with a cloud of doubt hanging over his head. And let’s allow George W. Bush to implement his agenda without getting his hands dirty over Bill Clinton.
