Bush Team Confident of Victory

The Bush team believes that the Supreme Court will end the election controversy in the next few days.

Publicly, Bush is taking a more cautious approach.

James Baker, acting as Bush's lead spokesman, said on Sunday that "it absolutely is not a foregone conclusion" that Bush would win.

Bush aides have already drawn up Bush's acceptance speech and have set an agenda of actions he will take after Gore's concession. Nominations for top Cabinet posts will also be announced.

The Times cited Bush sources as suggesting their plans may be interrupted if key justices decide against Bush. Aides expressed some fears that Justices Sandra Day O'Connor or Anthony M. Kennedy might shift and support the dissenters on the Court.
