Tuesday, 26 December 2000 12:00 AM EST

According to the CBS TV News outlet there:

Police said Robert Ricks Jr., 21, believed to have been on the drug PCP, entered the apartment of his 50-year-old mother, Patricia Ann Ricks, in South Central Los Angeles late Monday night, began shooting, then walked off, leaving her to die.

All four of his sisters were in the apartment at the time of the slaying. One of them, Robin Ricks, said:

"The doorbell rang. I heard, 'No, Robert Earl!' And then I heard gunfire."

She said she believes her brother, apprehended by police 12 hours later as he walked along a street, was high on PCP, a drug she said he began using shortly after his father's death in April.

She also said that during a birthday party two months ago her brother had been at their mother's apartment, brandishing a pistol and threatening all those present.

"I thought he was going to shoot us all then," she said. "I thought he was going to kill everyone.

"But he emptied out the bullets, and momma took the gun from him. Then she gave it back."

After her mother's killing, the daughter told reporters she had nothing to say to her brother "except that we're hurting.

"My momma is gone. How dare you take our mother from us! How dare you!"
