The Florida attorney general has failed to turn up evidence of what race warlord Jesse Jackson called "a systematic plan to disenfranchise black voters." Still you hear the Rev. Jesse ranting about this plan that included racist vote-counting machines that could sense whether a ballot was cast by a black person.
Jackson claims that Florida officials and members of law enforcement worked to prevent black voters from entering polling precincts statewide with roadblocks and such. Then we had Gore campaign manager Donna Brazile saying that black voters faced "dogs and guns" while trying to get to the polls.
But the Florida Highway Patrol says a police roadblock set up near a predominantly black precinct near Tallahassee had been set up in the same spot a month earlier and was designed to conduct inspections of every fifth car that passed through it.
There was no regard for the race of the driver. Yet Jackson and others insisted that only black drivers were targeted. And reports of police intimidating black voters outside voting precincts proved groundless; they were searching the area for a robbery suspect.
Fact is, neither Jesse, nor Al Sharpton, nor Joseph Lowery, nor Donna Brazile – not one of them – has been able to come to the table with one single black voter from anywhere in the entire state who can show that they were (a) properly registered to vote and (b) denied the opportunity to cast a ballot on Election Day.
Jesse saw a huge story – the election recount – and wanted his face right in the middle of it. To get there, Jesse had to bring the same dance partner he brings to every publicity party: Madame Race. Now we’re finding out that the old broad didn’t dance all that well.
Jackson's response to this news will be sheer outrage. He may even stomp his feet and hold his breath until he turns blue! Then Jesse will turn around and blame the Republicans' dominance of politics in Florida.
Yeah, that’s right. It’s those evil, Nazi Republicans. They’ve taken all of those black folks they wouldn’t let vote and they’ve either bribed them or hidden them away somewhere where they won’t talk to the press. It’s those nasty Republicans suppressing the evidence of the disenfranchisement of his people.
Will George W. Bush try to push his promised tax cut through a tight Congress? Many guessers and pundits in the media are saying that he won’t, because there’s no "mandate" for a tax cut.
Of course there’s no mandate for a tax cut. What do you think the leftists have been working toward for so many years? Do you think there’s going to be a huge popular mandate for an across-the-board tax cut when the vast majority of the taxes are being paid by only a small percentage of our income earners?
In effect, most of the taxes are paid by about the top 30 percent to 35 percent of income earners. The bottom 40 percent pay nothing at all. How are you going to get a huge demand generated for a tax cut when taxes are concentrated in such a small portion of our populaton?
It’s been a brilliant strategy! You weed the majority of the people off the tax rolls – put them on an essentially free ride – and then ask them if they feel strongly about a tax cut. Hell no, they don’t! Why should they?
We will only get a meaningful tax cut for the folks who are really paying the bills if the D.C. power structure recognizes that we need to put some more money back into the hands of the people who earned it to get our economy cranked again. That’s when the high producers once again become the friends of the great unwashed.
