Robert Woodson Sr., founder and president of Washington's Center for Neighborhood Enterprise and adviser to House Speaker Paul Ryan on poverty issues, said Friday he's being considered by President-elect Donald Trump for a cabinet position.

“They seem to be very serious about it,” Woodson, 79, told The Washington Post, saying the discussions have included his becoming the secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

"I’m not job hunting, but we’re talking about how I could possibly work with him," said Woodson. "We’re talking about how we could work with those across the aisle to do these things together.”

Woodson, a black man, would add some diversity to Trump's team, notes The Post. If he's approved, Woodson would lead reforms for the predominantly African American areas Trump promised to "fix" if he was elected.

He will meet with Trump at about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at Trump's private golf resort in Bedminster, N.J., and told the post Ryan has offered words of encouragement.

“It’s fair to say that Paul wouldn’t mind having me there to work with them on all of this,” Woodson said.

Woodson founded the Center for Neighborhood Enterprise in 1981, and has traveled with Ryan to visit churches and poverty-stricken neighborhoods.
