President Donald Trump's conduct towards North Korea has "been successful," according to Texas Republican congressman and former CIA officer Will Hurd.
Appearing on Fox News' "Fox & Friends" program on Thursday, Hurd, calling upon his time as an undercover officer in the CIA, said that the president must "be nice with nice guys and tough with tough guys," and that his confrontational tweets and statements about North Korean leader Kim Jung Un have worked to "start a dialogue" with South Korea.
"You may not like the tactics, but the actions and what those tactics are producing and we got to say it's been successful."
Hurd also addressed the recent protests in Iran, claiming Trump does not get the credit he deserves for "standing up with and standing side by side with the Iranian people, and not the Iranian government.
"I wish our friends in U.K., France, and Germany would follow President Trump's lead," he added. "I wish they would follow Vice President's [Mike] Pence's lead and talk about how they are standing up for the Iranian people.
"We need to amplify the message of the Iranian people: the Iranian government is trying to crack down on the internet, trying to prevent them getting out what's really happening in that country. All of us in the rest of the world need to be broadcasting back in what they can't broadcast themselves in Iran."
