Joe Biden runs the risk of making the same mistake as Hillary Clinton in 2016 — bypassing Wisconsin, where the presidential votes “really matter,” former Gov. Scott Walker said Thursday.
In an interview on Fox News’ “The Daily Briefing,” Walker derided Biden for not paying attention to a crucial swing state — and praised Republicans for “laying out clearly their plan for a new administration.”
“We didn't hear that last week with the Joe Biden convention,” Walker said, adding, “He hasn’t been to Wisconsin once in the last two years.”
“Neither was Hillary,” host Dana Perino pointed out.
“That was a big mistake and she took it for granted,” Walker said. “Even if he spoke to an empty convention center as he did in Delaware, he might have at least said it in Wisconsin, where it really matters.”
The Democratic National Convention had been scheduled to be held in Milwaukee, but became a virtual event due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Clinton infamously skipped a visit to Wisconsin during the general election campaign in 2016. Trump went on to become the first Republican to win the Badger State since 1984 on his way to a stunning election victory.
