President Donald Trump on Tuesday tweeted that he does not know Russian President Vladimir Putin, has no deals in Russia, and issued a reminder that former President Obama made a deal with Iran - "#1 in terror!"
The president's tweet soon after The New York Times posted an editorial questioning Trump's "bromance" with Putin, calling it "disturbing."
The Wall Street Journal also editorialized on the "bromance" Monday.
It appears further fueled by the heated debate surrounding Trump's "killers" discussion with Bill O'Reilly on Sunday and continued Democrat criticism of his relationship with the Russian leader.
During a taped interview that ran Sunday before the Super Bowl, O'Reilly asked Trump about forging an alliance with Putin, a known "killer."
"There are a lot of killers. You think our country's so innocent?" Trump shot back.
Predictably, Democrats are up in arms.
"You may have some bromance with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, I'll tell you right now you should respect more of our country and our Constitution," Sen. Patrick Leahy said Monday.
