Dozens of demonstrators are vowing to lie down in front of American tanks in a bid to disrupt the military parade President Donald Trump plans to stage in Washington, D.C.
And one of the activists says the defiant move is inspired by the famous pro-democracy protesters who stopped tanks in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square in 1989.
"We now have nearly 50 Americans who have signed on to lay in front of the tanks if Trump brings out a military parade. We are not an empire drifting towards extinction," social justice advocate Arn Menconi wrote on Twitter.
On his Facebook page, Menconi added that the demonstration "would be a felony charge under Donald Trump. This would mean being thrown in jail, just like the students in China."

Menconi, who is based in Colorado, is known for developing SOS Outreach, a national youth development nonprofit.
On Tuesday, The Washington Post reported that Trump told the Pentagon to put on a large scale military parade in Washington similar to the one France throws on Bastille Day, with tanks and other big military hardware.
"The marching orders were: I want a parade like the one in France. This is being worked at the highest levels of the military," a military official who spoke on the condition of anonymity told the Post.
