Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor and Republican Rep. Tom Cotton are sparring over how to define the middle class after Pryor said it included households making up to $200,000.
Cotton is pouncing on the remark that Pryor made during a televised debate on Tuesday
Cotton said Wednesday that the comment shows Pryor is out of touch with Arkansas. Pryor defended his description of the middle class. He said Cotton is grasping at straws by focusing on the remark.
Pryor and Cotton are running in one of the most heated and expensive Senate races in the country. The two candidates and outside groups have spent more than $36 million on the race.
