Ty Cobb, President Donald Trump's newest lawyer for the Russia probe, is praising special counsel Robert Mueller — the man leading the investigation, Politico reports.
"I have a very respectful and professional relationship with Bob Mueller," said Cobb, who starts work Monday as White House special counsel.
"I think very highly of him."
His comments come as Trump's attacks on Mueller are increasing, The Hill noted.
In an interview with The New York Times, Trump claimed Mueller was running an office rife with conflicts of interest.
And the president was asked by The Times if the investigation would cross a red line if it expanded to his family's finances.
"I would say yes," Trump said. "I think that's a violation. Look, this is about Russia."
In addition, there has been speculation the president is setting the stage for Mueller's eventual dismissal.
